Anything to do with winning the Olympic contract to supply boats?

Maybe private purchase is not their priority now.

Purely speculation, but if that's the case it isn't a good business strategy long term.

Quote (email received 29 September last) after asking for going from 175 to 225HP engine.

........

Yes we have got a big contract for next year although I can’t say what its for. Your build is going through at the moment so it wouldn’t effect you.

The large order production is running from January to May and we have a spare workshop where we have set up separate tooling so it wouldn’t effect delivery even if yours were due in that time. Small world how did you hear of that?

Best Regards

........

Seems I am in the middle of it. Altrough they tell me now it will take 4 weeks to complete (have seen some pictures now).

Cheers

Single orders seem to get shoved in here and there with Ribcraft, we heard nothing for ages about our boat then it was built quickly (but to their high build quality) near the delivery date. Once built they wanted us to pay for it and collect it PDQ, this caused us some challenges but we did it in the end.

They were looking at some big UN contract then, sadly it's business, I imagine if we'd wanted something all touchy feely etc etc we could have gone elsewhere. Still very happy with our boat and for us the 175 is performing well, remember the 175 2.8 has the largest displacement for its class (suzzy blurb) and it's electronics optimise the low end grunt (as I found out, almost dumping my mate over the transom)

If we had not gone the suzzy route I would have looked hard at Etecs.

I like to install 2x VHF units and the biggest plotter possible. I am now looking for sample console layouts and advice. Any help is apriciated.

I think you RIBnet lads are getting too wound up early in the game.

I don’t want to end this in a bun fight as I hear only praises about the good stuff Ribcraft is delevering. Therefor I accepted (the first few) postponed delivery dates. However I had to find out myself delivery was not as planned.

Problem in engine is solved so topic can be closed.

In reaction of previous mail:

Ordered boat July (downpayment made) --> Delevery at Boatshow Southampton.

Problems in mould delivery postponed.. (without noticing me, I had to ask myself)

Due to delivery postponed I added some goods (adding 4 extra patches and a front samson pole (how hard can this be).

Afterwards delivery was postponed time by time.

Changed bonded to detachable 2nd row seats (perhaps more serious, but still no work was done to my boat at that time).

Rest as above already mentioned. (from end of September on / no further changes in spec)..

So Indeed I changed some specs…
