What do we think of these?

Other than "HOW much???" which is becoming a familiar experience in my boat googling.

c-fury

Given I'll have a disabled passenger, it's got some obvious benefits. But I'm thinking the hydrofoil thing would be a bit vulnerable. And is it just going to be poncey and unreliable?

Given that you will have a disabled passenger I would think the softer ride would be a huge benefit? The principle isn't unique - do a search for Hysucats.

Thanks Cookee. So they're a mini Hysucat by the looks of it.

I'd love to find a review somewhere from someone who actually owns one and has run it for a bit. I'll keep googling...

Had a ride in one at the Southampton boat show - quite a strange jerky motion. Not at all convinced about their cornering ability tho - almost flat in the turns. Very nicely built and kitted out tho'

Catamarans are the work of the devil. Anyone who suffers even the slightest twinge of seasickness will be heaving. I've seen grown men cry on cats.

Well then... given it's my first post I might as well jump in with both feet!
I have just purchased a C-Fury in December & expect delivery in a few weeks after the show. My wife & I happened to stop by the C-Fury stand at Excel last year & ended up having a real good chat with Andy. We were considering downsizing from our Four Winns 205 as the mooring costs were getting silly & it was too big to launch on my own (my wife has the spacial awareness of a squashed rabbit) but wern't sure about a "small" rib. Following many emails Andy & Simon bought two C-Fury boats down to Neyland in South Wales & we went on a long "test drive" in some pretty rough water, out into "the heads" & out to sea. The stability of the rib is superb & we were even swopping from boat to boat out at sea without drama. I am not the most experienced sailor in the land but I have spent many hours going down the estuary at Milford, turning right & heading up to Skomer for the day & I can honestly say the C-Fury was the best ride I had ever had in those waters. Fantastic fun, it does turn a little different being a cat (you have to hold on with your legs like riding a bike) but overall we bloody loved it & got off completely dry! Yes it's small (only 2+2 of us), yes it's a bit of a cottage industry behind it but the boats are very well built & Simon & Andy really do their best to keep you happy. I now can't wait till the spring to get out on it ;-)
If anyone wants more info please wait & let me get used to it & I will report back.
ATB

Monohulls were designed by satan himself. If you want to hurl you should roll and pitch around in a monohull to find out if you have sealegs or green guts.

Cats prowl, they don't lurch.

The lighthouse is falling apart, but should remain standing for some time still. Have you seen it in the flesh ?

There's another reason for buying a RIB?

Yip, that is the southern most tip of Africa for sure. The lighthouse is the 2nd oldest in South Africa and modelled on the one in Alexandria.

In the Struisbaai harbour you will find more Hysucats than anywhere else as this is where we do most of our testing.
