What did i buy?

Dear all Rib members.
I brought this rib some days ago as a winter project.
But i have no idea what kind of brand it is?
Who build it? and where to get new pontoons?

What i know.
it is to be 26-28 feet
the Danish Military used it for speciel operation in Africa?
It has 11 bolt on Pontoon.
So easy to put new pontoons on if damaged.
I once had 2x300hp jet-fuel engines.
2x100l fuel tank.
maybe from 1998.
i think it is a carson rib??

please help!
Kind regards

The jet engines give it away, it's part of Batmans special toys.

Round Scotland Race 1990 Winner

Hi Sune,

I just replied to your email received last evening and hope I can be of some help. It is indeed one of my designs, a CARSON 750 (7.5m) from 1990 in fact, and was originally the boat that won 1st place overall in the 1990 Round Scotland Race crewed by a team from Faslane Naval Base, the MOD Marine Police Small Boat Unit. It was later sold to the Danish Special Forces when various modifications were made to make it more appropriate for their operations and make it even faster. Well in excess of 55kts fully loaded!

Other information about her can be found on this site here:
1) http://www.rib.net/forum/f8/carson-ribs-7373-4.html
2) http://www.rib.net/forum/f8/remember...cer-71299.html
3) http://www.rib.net/forum/f8/carson-ribs-70996.htm

Also a couple of old photos as she was back in 1990 with some of the winning crew onboard.

Looking forward to hearing from you and meanwhile all the best with the refurb work.

Barry

Welcome to the forum.

THAT is a project.

You really are going to have to refresh the parts other owners have failed to reach.

held og lykke

That looks great Bigtalljv Just goes to show what is possible. This particular Carson 750 is now 27 years old (built May/June 1990) and has had a serious life but that is what we build our professional ribs for and provided the main structure is sound it's well worth the effort and can still prove a good investment. I know of many other Carsons now over 30 years old still giving good service in professional use. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result with this one

Mine is an ‘87. Actually that worked out great cause as far as I can tell the hull isn’t cored, 3/4” of solid fiberglass.

So the footnotes to the pictures are, the after picture is when I got my new tubes on a month or so ago. Add a new 250hp outboard, a couple $$$$ in other parts, paint, fiberglass, electronics and maybe it takes money as well as effort

Great history and it is so lovely to see boats like this restored to their former glory.
