What boat should I get next?

Well I am nearing the completion of the Searider 4 project, I have wanted to end up with a practical boat, no expense spared in getting the right quality equipment, I am very fussy and wanted the boat to be comfortable e.g. have courtesy lights for night embarkation with wife and kids, handholds in all the right places, safety of a good plotter for night navigation and headlamps for use at night in out of the way places, why struggle? I also wanted the boat to look 'pretty', by pretty I mean a bit like a Defender, not out of place anywhere, so acceptable as a nice tender but also very capable of getting out and doing things with extra fuel tank and good anchoring capability, so what next?

I don't know if I will sell the boat, there is no way on this earth I will recover the thousands spent on it, but it has been fun. I'm now looking at something a little bigger but still easily manageable by that I mean to launch and recover, I intend to go through the same process but this time hopefully have more scope with more room to play with. The new boat needs to be very tough, fast and capable with long range, I have been looking at the Redbays, very tempting

So any ideas welcome

I had an SR4 then quickly moved on to a SR4.7 and they are worlds apart from each other. A 4.7 behaves like a bigger rib and keeps up with the larger boats on cruises.

I ran the 4.7 in my profile picture with my late father who had prostate cancer as well as load of other problems and we cruised from Portsmouth to Poole very comfortably

I'm not pushing it but I do have a SR4.7 in the for sale section

I bought this to keep down at the coast but since then we have bought a Ribcraft 585 so it is no longer needed.

But having said the above, i am a sucker for the Military 5.4's, I have never owned one but I hope to one day

I think you are looking at the question the wrong way. Instead of 'what boat should I get next?' the question should be 'what domestic appliance* do I next want to take to sea?'. Once you have decided whether you want to upgrade from your microwave (e.g., to a George Foreman Grillin' Machine or a full rotisserie), the options for boats start to present themselves.

Given your SR4 can travel [quite] fast at wave height and can emit microwave pulses (albeit only of the pasty-warming variety) I think you have 'unique selling point' and a possible future as a dummy anti-ship missile for naval training purposes. Given that traditionally dummy weapons are often painted in a high-vis orange colour scheme you are already half way there.
