What 6.5m Rib PLease help????

Hi i have been lurking about the forums for a while and this is my first post,

Could you please advise me on a few good makes of rib around the 6.5m size budget 15k-25k max!!! i would like a boat that has good sea keeping and also sociable with a bench seat thanks for looking and i look forward to your help and advice

Just been through this. Looked at a Rib-X as I like the seating arrangement, then moved onto a Ribeye 650 as the bench seat and Yamaha outboard look fantastic and considered Brig, Ribtec, and whole host of other "family ribs".

Ended up with an Avon 620. It has Hypalon tubes, a small rear bench seat, a fantastic deep v hul, a Yamaha 150 outboard, and after over a week of ownership I know I have made a good choice. It cuts across waves with ease and having owned a powerboat it is so simple to use. Mine is 8 years old as looks as good as new.

There is a great choice with your expenditure. Ribcraft all the way. Strongly trading since the 80s and even in the climate we are in.. orders are still pouring in..Everything apart form the Stainless is made in house including the toobs and up there with the best of the Rib manufacturers.:A company with a product you would want to invest your money in..thumbs:

Now 'ang abaht! I just gave you a linky to a boat and said that the owner had upgraded. He did, bought a brand new diesel RIB.

Just had a look at the ribcraft nice looking boats as well as the osprey what sort of model/setup do you feel i could get without going over budget?? and also am i right in saying the rib craft 6.4 would go well with a 150hp on her?

Well made, not the best hulls. Some turn into spacehoppers in less than flat water.

For a 6-6.5m £15-20k should get you a good condition 2nd hand one just out of warranty. Obviously a 6.5m wider beam slightly older.

Yes a 150hp on that size boat should be fine

Re layout, most boats these days are species by the original purchaser. So other than the med boats/mass produced Brig, ribeye, valiant etc the set up is random. They though generally are more leisure orientated in set up with some soft sun pads up front in the V and a bench at the rear.

Good brands include probably ribeye (slightly debated on here both ways), Humber, Osprey, ribquest, ribcraft, revenger, scorpion, delta, tornado amongst others.

Horses for courses though. Some are kitted out in a more utilitarian fashion than others, but as I say, one osprey to another could vary drastically in layout and appearance.

Rule of thumb, find a boat, if you like the layout, research the characteristics (on here), then if still happy, GET A SURVEY FOR THAT MONEY.

It's the 4 jockey seats with wingbacks that makes it for us, although I do see the attraction with a well designed 3 seater bench seat at the back

Forget the bench, you have the ideal arrangement. That arrangement in a well put together, nicely spec'd 5.8 Vipermax would be the best boat of it's size.
