Thank GOD for that. I should imagine that most people who have bothered to follow either this or the other post will probably think the same as me which is what an unprofessional bunch of squabbling kids you ALL are

I think Rogue Wave summed it up in a previous post "people that do voluntary work and then carp on about it really dissapoint me, people that help others and keep it to themselves are heroes in my opinion".

Noted the comments, which is why I said I am not saying anymore on the subject however feel some points need clearing up. At Cowes we are a professional outfit and are held in high regard with the coastguard, as are all other independents within the solent area. We train on the water every saturday and sunday plus shorebased two evenings per week.

I consider what Venturers do as good in their own capacity, but that should be left at that. If they want to go and pull boats around the solent when they have broken down then that is good to me as it then enables declared facilities to do the work we should be doing.

We are courteous to venturers when on the water and will give them a wave as we pass, so if any of you here think that we hate each other then this is not true. If needed we would both work together, but under the direct control of coastguard, with coastguard instructing us to take over the situation, because we are declared to them and are covered by all the insurances needed.

I cannot comment on their land activities as have no knowledge of this.

) what training do you guys use for inland / swiftwater situations?

Only ask as I've done a few programmes for Police and Fire Service which may be of interest to you...

We dont play around with anything fast moving is the simple answer, flooded fords. the odd car in ditch....or something yes but we dont do swiftwater rescue as such, any water deeper than we are tall and the flood boat goes in

- basically, at no time are crews put in to fast flowing water.

Other inland incidents are trained for in house and as said before MOD fire service etc.

Would be interested to hear more about the programms though

Matt,

I'd always recommend to any organisation that anyone going into water more than calf deep should attend at least a one day course - Rescue 3 International do a good one, as do some independent trainers (self included).

Drop me a PM with your email on and I'll send you some details.

Would be in Jan or Feb, but I'm sure we could arrange something useful which I may even be tempted to call a charitable donation lol.
