Wear Patch or Not Wear Patch?
No I'm not deciding if I should become a Patch Club Member (Nos4r2 would understand) I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead with my wear patch project.
The boat had a very rough life before I brought it to re-build 3.5 years ago, and there are some quite bad marks on the tubes. One was down to the canvas and about an inch wide where a rope had worn through, so I put two wear patches on right at the stern just to cover the gouge up.
Since then I've been thinking about adding patches along both sides, and have finally gathered together enough Grey Hypalon to do the job.
They would be useful to cover up some more marks etc, so I layed them out today to see what they would look like, including some cut around the rubber cleats. I think I'm going to go for it as I quite like how they look.
What do you all think?
Better looking with or without?

I agree, contrast to the yellow is nice and so is the match to the interior. Thats a lot of yellow, and the grey accents break it up a bit giving it a technical feel it didn't have before.
Once I saw it with the patches, it looked kind of naked without them. Do it!

Patches
To me it looks better with.
The grey highlights break up the large expanse of yellow, and adds more interest to the whole boat.

With, definitely!
I've got a Henshaws fabric sample sheet knocking about somewhere and they do some really nice non slip material (I assume it's OK for wear patches with it being Henshaws)
Might be worth looking at it for boarding points?

A shame they weren't bigger so that you could have cut them into a chevron pattern.

I thought about it, but realised there wasn't any angles on the boat to match them too, so went with them as they are. I think the ones cut around the cleats would look a bit odd cut at an angle too.
Thanks everyone, just what I thought.
Unfortunately I don't have time to glue them down before our trip to Dartmouth this year, but will do it when I get back.
