I think I see where you've got the wrong end of the stick. The bit in red is wrong.

I think that is probably wise - a float suit can be far too warm in many weathers - she will get much more wear from a standard suit.

My brother and I are still using red XM Offshore suits (Plastimo). They come as jacket and hi-fit trousers with T5000 material, plenty pockets, fluorescent hood, adjustable cuffs, waterproof, very warm, reinforced section, heavy duty zips. Trousers starting to fail now, but they're 8 years old, so got our money's worth.

See - I missed that 'cos of where he was tw@tting on. Entirely wrong, regrettably on a (if you'll pardon the expression) pivotal point of marine safety. Whatever.

Henri Lloyd, who sadly have been in and out of administration recently have some good offers on their kit at the moment.

In my defence, I'd like to point out that I've been consistent before, during and after the mod thing

13k posts doesn't lend much to quality. Don't say I didn't warn you

I have musto br2. They don’t keep you warm as it relys on base layers, however it’s atleadt 5 Years old and still suffered a couple of hours drenching at cowed Torquay without a drop passing by. Only downside is the cost and now my mrs thinks they are amazing

You should perhaps research life jacket options if you don't already have 275nm jackets to make sure you are happy to go along with the suits.

It is a debatable subject of no jacket versus underspec so just putting out there the recommended option is 275nm jacket with your floatation suit.
the fish eagle suits aren't waterproof especially if you don't wear the bottoms and leave the top open

Just as an aside, I’ve always worn a dry suit on the boat, usually because I was diving. I tried for years to get the missus to use a dry suit, but she resisted on the grounds of cost/looks/comfort/convenience etc. Although being a Yorkshire lass, it was all probably down to cost. Anyway, after a particularly difficult boat recovery on the banks of the Humber, she ended up to her chest in the cold muddy waters (there’s a joke in there for blues fans). A week later she was in a Drysuit & has never looked back. It has transformed her boating experience.

I've used Musto MPX and BR2's very happily for many years on both RIB's and sailing boats, the wife likes her BR2's as well. I use a dry suit if I know I'm definitely going in the water, at night, or if the weather is very inclement, but for typical cruising (with lunch stops!) prefer the 2 piece jacket/trouser combo.

The down side of wearing sailing gear is the possibility you could be mistaken for a WAFI in the pub.
Your pint will be flat (and someone will put a cherry on a cocktail stick in it), the steak pie will be half the size of the guy sitting next to you. This is after you've been told they've just run out of the fish you actually wanted and your soup is straight out of the dish water basin......

The only dead give away of a WAFI is pink trousers & a jumper with the obligatory holes & elbow patches. 😉
