AFAIK this is the norm.
Confirmed by Ribcraft today, very helpful on the phone, even had records of original sale and could confirm some of the service history.

Will update all shortly on next step

Resin or glassed?
Only a guess I'm afraid. It's very difficult glassing under deck with a wooden floor. You could glass the underside of boards but around the edges are always a problem. General rule if its not a moulded deck keep the water out of it as much as you can

My survey was for sailing yachts in the region of 8m length, and if I remember correctly cost was approx 500 each survey. In one instance it stopped me buying an unseaworthy vessel, and in the other instance it enabled me to get the seller to fix various faults that cost far in excess of the survey fee.

So in both cases the survey paid for itself. If I was spending more than 10,000 on any boat I would always have a survey. Under 10k I may just take a chance and inspect it myself.

The underside of the deck on the 585 is flow coated as I cut a hatch hole in mine a week ago. It could be that the rain water is getting through the brass insert which are in the deck holding down the rear a frame.

Thanks for all the input everyone. After my call with Ribcraft yesterday I was hugely reassured and I have done a deal. All woodwork is glassed in below the deck on a RC and in their view, it will be fine.

They knew the boat too, which helped a lot. Excellent after sales service from them, thumbs up from me.

I hope to post some pics in the coming weeks, picking the boat up next Friday.

Cheers

Does that mean that there are unsealed holes into the wood sandwiched between the layer of glass on the upper and lower surfaces of the deck?

Did Ribcraft fit the new seats, or have they seen it since and did you speak to the guy who saw it if they did?
