Water skiing in the Solent

Can anyone tell me if there are designated areas for skiing in the Solent? If so, where they are?

We run out of Hamble and a friend wants to ski.

Is there anywhere close by that is a bit sheltered?

Thanks

Hi

We tend to Wakeboard in either Stokes Bay or Osbourne Bay, tends to be relatively calm. We will be out this weekend Wakeboarding, weather looks superb for it, hardly any wind, sunny and 16deg that'l do nicely.

JABS Southampton water may be easiest for your skiers.

Otherwise Island-side is usually quieter on warm days than Lee or Stokes.

Wakeboarding etc Solent

There is a designated area at Osborne Bay . We wakeboard there most evenings in the Spring & summer. Thorness Bay is also good .

Look up this web site, www.solentforum.hants.org.uk, then look up "enjoying the solent" link, then "maps of solent", on the header, and then, "primary zones for water based recreation", fifth from the bottom. I hope this helps, but I still think you have to be offshore and not in the bays, nother worse than trying to drink a cup of tea with a waterskier bombing around at full steam. All the best Martin
