That seems quite agressive and personal to me. Not that I really give a flier I just don't like bull!

Out of interest they have been running jets for years and the boats are good un's. The comments about having a 1to1 gearbox is bang on ( sorry cooks!) and I'd put one in my Avon If I had the room. The backflush has got me out of trouble a few times in Peterhead harbour when we have been doing drills to close to the Jellyfish herds.

And yeah Jets are wobbly at slow speed and the answer is more revs and less bucket I think that got covered to! But Hey WTF do I know!

HI,

Jet is a Hamilton HJ322

Iveco is a 400 hp, runs at 3900 revs pulling 30 knots

looking next year at getting a 450 hp Iveco as we used to have a much heavier CAT 450.

a lighter 450 should match up pretty sweetly

and the jelly fish herds..i know the ones, we get em in beaulieu river, only small little buggers but annoying to pick out the filter!

will check later, reason we swaped was ECU was buggering up and Cat wernt being to helpful with fixing it, we decided to change to the Iveco as it was a smaller, lighter engine and also they are at the top end of Southampton water (Marlin Marine) so if we got a problem the "Solution" was local..

I did like the catapiller, fantastic engine but the Iveco has been equally awesome in its own right.

Being a 4 ton boat it didnt make a noticable difference with tube hight out of the water, Tubes sit above the waterline anyway...just.

The boat turns alot sharper than she used to, especially to Starboard. Ride is also softer and easier.

Speed wise we lost three knots after we had played around with impelles and gearboxes etc, unsure what affected and were, mainly because i cant remember lol.

Will dig a little deeper and find out for you.

Indeed!

although we are in a reasonably enclosed helm position so dont fee it so much.

I think the crew who are positioned just behind the lower part of the consol frame get a bit of spray when you turn reasonably tightly...

So maybe we should use it to wake them up lol
