Warranty periods

Looking to buy a new rib in the next few weeks, but having some difficulty finding out warranty periods, so I was wondering if there was a definitive list anywhere as even the manufacturers web sites don't even seem to have the info.

I seem to remember that Honda engines currently have a 6 year warranty, but what about the other engines?

Interested in both rib and engine periods.

Any info would be appreciated.

I think Ribeye are two years on the hull and tubes and that Honda are 5 years.

Hi

Honda are 6 now, I wouldn't look at any new ribs that don't offer at least 5 years warranty, i5 years is becoming an Industry Standard.

Be careful with the conditions on the Mercury & Mariner 5 Year Warranty.

So avoid Redbays then

"All Redbay Boats have a 2 year warranty with 5 years on the tube fabric"

What about the Yamaha or Evinrude engines, anyone know about those?

With regard the rib itself, what sort of thing might go wrong that would be covered by the warranty?

I can only speak for Evinrude, it is 3 years (although recently they have been available with 5 years) but the thing to note is that it is non declining manufactures warranty that covers every part. Some others are declining and if you read the small print parts such as covers, pipes and wiring are only covered for the first or second year. So basically read the small print and conditions not the headline number of years.

Thanks for the info, keep it coming on other ribs/engines as well.

I do find it really strange that this info doesn't appear clearly on the respective websites.

Anyone know what the Ribeye warranty is?

You have to be spot on with the servicing and witerising at a Merc or Mariner dealer. The hours are restricted to 500 I Think.

Is it possible to pay extra and have a dealer warranty like you used to do on cars?

Na, hours are only limited for commercial users. I think they are very good on their warranty. I have done claims for engines with no service history and never had a problem. They are getting more hot on it these days particually on major components. But i would say they are pretty good. They usually ask for the info from ecu's to check the have not been running on water, overheating etc etc. I have heard Honda are really hot on that sort of thing but probably just from one persons experience!

I have a 2008 Valiant.. (chosen for other reasons) and they proclaim this

"New 10 Year Valiant Fabric Warranty

For 2008 Valiant has Increased their Warranty on Akron PU Fabric to 10 years on Fabric and air holding seams. This Warranty is understood to be the Industries longest Guarantee. "

I can confirm their tube work looks and is excellent HTH
