Er, I went for a play in the Solent, reasonably sheltered, but still suffered from the 'Solent Chop'. Radio traffic caught my attention, someone capsized just off the needles, and worse still, it was a RIB Seems skipper and crew were on the upturned hull. The Freshwater lifeboat crew described it as "rough". Another RIB (no names to spare any blushes) was standing by to help if needed. Just hope the casualty was no-one from RIBNET. Lifeboat crew recovered stranded crew with the chopper in attendance. I bet that spoiled their whole day

Its blowing on our side of the pond too. We have had two large storms back to back. 50 knots with gusts to 60 knots and this is just the start with worse weather to come and a little bit of rain too. In the last storm we had 5" of rain fall in 24 hours.

I checked there earlier - must have just put it up on the site.

I see the Rib watching over them was non other than Hot Lemon - well done!!!

Would be interesting to see what size RIB it was that flipped. Report stresses the importance of carrying a hand held VHF - couldn't agree more - shame mine "vanished" whilst in the care of some Guernsey boatbuilders....

Southern Ireland is getting the worst of it - Wales is sheltered from Southerlies - different story with South Westerlies which is our norm.

Shipping forecast is predicting a 12 in the Hebredies though!!!
Seems Scotland has escaped the worst of it - although the night is still young. Looks like I spoke too soon - windiest place now - Pembrey Sands - again - typical!!! Looks like a quick trip to check on the boat is a possibility.

Bogi,

We are lucky in England we only need 1/2 a cm of snow and everything comes to a standstill. Just think all the aggro you get but for much less snow. Aren't we luccky. Its down to really lovely roads and skilful, know everything drivers.
