Wakeboard Tower Opinion

Ok, I am considering fitting a wakeboard tower to my Rib, (see pic attached), it won't have the speakers or the wakeboard brackets on the side, but will have the Bimini top in Dark Blue Fabric. Due to the nature of the Rib I cannot fit an A Frame so this is the next best option.

I am basically after peoples opinions whether or not you think it will look silly, it will fit, and remarkably (won't affect the manufacturers warranty, have checked).

One of the guys here fitted a 9' steel pole to his 19' bayliner. Reckons it is the dogs... Just made a seat for the base and rigged it with wire to the bow to take the strain. By all accounts it worked very well and was VERY cheap!

I reckon the tower would look pretty cool...Ive decided to get a boarding a-frame for my rib and wondered why nobody makes towers that would fit ribs...theyd look good and be useful for things such as (like you said) biminis and speakers.

Hi Richard,
we looked at a rib ,about this time last year, that had a tower built around the console and as a result looked rather odd because it was so tall and narrow . However , we think the one that you are considering is smart and would look great on the seasport .I've just shown Sue the photo and she says she wants one too

Yeah but thats not so much a wakeboard tower as a bunch of scaffold poles welded together and painted green!

It's a shame that you can't fit a decent A frame. Those wakeboard towers look well "Bling". OK ish on a proper ski boat.As for putting a "roof" on the thing?

mmmmmmm the wake tower in the pic looks really great but it is difficult to say until you actually see one resting on your boat, perhaps trailer it there and ask them to rest on on the boat and then have a butchers.

but now having seen option 2 i reckon option 2 is a much better bet

Yeh i agree with hugh....i love the idea coz i think wakeboarding boats look the dogs but....they do look different on ribs coz you have to have it inside the tubes.

I would have thought it would seriously impeded room on the boar. I wakeboard off the transom on my 5m Gemini but would like an A frame or tower but have to say after sizing it up, the tube bulge made it unreasonably tight in the boat..

Hi
No this will sit ontop of the hull, see pic so will be bolted through to that, as supposed to the deck so should not get in the way. If you see how the previous bimini fitted then this fits onto the same deck area.

The frame also releases from the front so you can fold it back.

So at what speed does it actually take off?!

Just get a tow frame (eg a beefed up a-frame) for your RIB - I reckon other than having a cabin and attaching to that any attempt to put a tow point over the CofG of the boat is going to look silly on a RIB.

Heres the type of frame I have on my boat.

OH YES

Ribcraft have beaten their estimated ready date by over 2 weeks and I go to pick her up on Wednesday...

Needless to say I will post a few photos - I hope the weather is kind to me next weekend so i can get the running in of the engine out of the way.

seems like it will be a little small dont you think? if your mounting it to the deck you wont be able to stand up im guessing
