Volunteer for Africa

There is a possibility that we might be looking for 2 people in different locations. Of no doubt is that we will be wanting someone within the next 3 months (we should take delivery of our next boat within that time).

We will not be 'engaging' trawlers. We intend to have armed national Navy personnel on board just to add a bit of muscle, but I have no intention of getting any part of me shot off. Our mission regarding trawlers is primarily one of surveillance and 'presence'. However, military training will not be considered a hinderance to your application !

I would hire local boat pilots in a shot were it possible. Unfortunately, the only folk really experinced in open sea conditions in Gabon are west African fishermen, and they are primarily used to piloting leaky wooden pirogues with 40hp paraffin engines. However, part of our candidates job will be to train a pilot chosen from local staff.

Very good news. They're bound to know the area better and I'd imagine would be keen to learn new skills...
