We could meet at the Belgium coast and you can ride along with us Dutch.

We will go from IJmuiden with 3 ot 4 ribs, same size as yours.

We have our ex demo boat for sale in the "Boats for Sale" section and on Boats and outboards. It's quite different to Scorpions and Revengers, and we'll be at Ribex as well if you would like a demo ..........

As others have said, they are both great boats. We went for a scorpion due to quailty,,,,and the fact that some of it is down to personal taste. As example

We paid 20.5k pounds for a little used 7.5 with an evinrude 200hp on the back, it had been little used (well it still is , due to work), its probably wotk 17k now (its 2000 model)

Also there are some on the ribnet and also here

http://www.lymingtonmarinesales.co.uk

It will depend on your budget what you can get. Also if you buy one off the forum i would bet its been looked after.

I would not buy a new one, they are too expensive now

Agree with Jimbob

Stewart at Lymington Marine Sales knows on most that are for sale - he's next to the Scorpion workshops so probably gets first dibs on any part exchanges.

Google is also worth a look - turns up a few from time to time.

There was also a 7.5m in Poole a few weeks ago with a 250Mariner efi for about £18,000, without trailer - I can't find the ad for you at the moment though.

Found this one - would be tempted myself if I didn't already have a boat.

If you buy a scorpion you are buying into a brand not only build quality
but the knowledge that when you want to sell it there is alway a buyer out there thats looking for the same thing you want now.

I think Ribeyes didn't have very good build quality (in fact it was awful) a while ago. I think this kinda starts to show up a few years after purchase and people want to lose them. Also they have a very good marketing effort so they sell quite a few o first time buyers.

I think there is a 7.5 Scorpion for sale on this forum with an old mercury 2 stroke. and it's not too dear. you could always buy it and re engine. Also if you have the guilders there are two newer and superb Scorps for sale Gelignite (Mark Wildey) and one from the north of the country belonging to Qcamel which is an 8.1 stepped hull with a 225 Opti

Thanks for all the comments & advice. I'll bear it in mind. I'll let you know once I've decided what to go for.

i think scorpions tend to hold a premium on second hand value that is sometimes proven to be in excess. Scorpions at fair prices seem to sell in days, but many are falsly priced (imho) and sit forsale for long periods of time and are reduced by thousands at a time in order to shift em! i nearly bought a year old boat, it was a stunner but there was confusion over price and it meant it worked out £800 less than a new one!!! but i think alot of boats are the same

As far as I'm concerned the Scorpion is unbeatable for performance and maintaining its value.

Buy one you won't regret it
