Video of Yarmouth

OK - so I've got a bit carried away with my new broardband connection

I've put a short piece of video up on my web site

Its about a minuite long and about 10Mb and in Quicktime .mov format

So tomorrow at work would be a good time to download it!

Let me know what you think - size, format, quality etc.

Would you like to see more of these clips?

The link is as normal www.ribpanther.co.uk click on shipslog and then click on the new video icon under the last entry.

(Or if you are very lazy click here)

Jools

I would let you know what I think jools but i can't get it to play at all. Error message: 'unable to download decompressor'. May be down to my work PC though. See if anyone else has a problem.

Regards

There's a French RIB web site with some video clips (water ski-ing on the Seine etc..) at www.pneuboat.com

Jools da man!

Great to see that - took about six minutes to download (b-band 512k).

I think it's an excellent enhancement to your site. Great shot over the bow of "Dromedary". And how does John's cap stay on? Is it glued on, or is the console screen REALLY good?

1. First double click on the link and the message was:Unable to download an appropriate decompressor.
2. Right click on the link down load the file etc. When I tried to "Play" the d***d thing, I got the same message.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG PLEASE ?

Charles,

Indeed, luck is one thing you definetely need. I tried 4 ot maybe 5 times to install the QT, installation was complete, (as I can see the QT sign on the toolbar now, BUT I always get the same message when I try to play the file.

Got it to work, Had to update the Quick time player to the latest version otherwise you receive the “haven’t got the appropriate decompressor” fault appears.

Broadband is top’s, recently had it installed at work, somehow my home connection of 56K seems tragic in comparison!

Well sound like its worth doing some more!

I think you need Quicktime 6 - as I'm getting the same "decompressor" error at work (and I have QT5 on my work PC).

The Quicktime download dosn't work through our proxy

I will see if I can find some other players (DIVX dosn't work if you saw this post before I edited it!)

Thanks for the comments - keep them coming!

Jools,
still haven't managed to watch the vid but will soon, when this damn PC decides to play ball! On a different subject, looking at your web-site, I couldn't help noticing some pics from your recent Southampton cruise (6th Oct). The last few pics are from Crosshouse road slipway under the Itchen Toll bridge, right? I have been using this slip since I was at school and I don't think I've ever seen anyone retrieve a boat of that size when the water was so low!!!!!! Was that the recent spring tide we had? I assume you waited until the tide came in a touch!!!!!!!!! If you didn't then I please post how you got the boat out and sign me up for classes in extreme RIB retrieval!!!
Yes Wavelength, I have seen your pictures but at least you have water present!

Link for those interested!

Jools,

You'll make our lives A LOT easier if you would save your videos in another format, so we could run it using a more easy to find programm, (like Windows Media Player) for example.

I saw the video though. Nice job, but keep the microphone shut somehow, or remix the sound.

I am the dope in the yellow in the pick we did wait about 10 more mins after this shot but got sick of waiting so retrived as was just making sure that the hulls did not hit the metal cross bars that you cannot see that are just below the surface. If you want extreeme then the PB2 course that the girls + Jools took on the Sun after the vid was shot was wild force 10 if you want to see an account have a look at

www.ribdromedary.co.uk under the articles section

Although not really RIB related I thought i'd post a short sequence of video clips I shot while out on my dads 20ft Hardy last year.

I'm planning on making some RIB videos, hopefully more exciting than this one!

Its compressed using Windows Media Encoder, so anybody with windows media player 7 or greater should be able to watch it.

Jools, it might be worth you downloading Windows Media Encoder, it seems to work much better than quicktime. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia

That's excellent Daniel, good quality. I particular like the look on the helmsmans' face just after he says, 'here's a big one!!'
