Update on RIB, hull has now been cleaned, sanded and repainted, tubes have been cleaned and are now awaiting repairs to the punctues. Engine has been mounted and after some niggly little probs with electrics which required a new loom from ignition to the engine. Also freeing up of the starter motor the engine has now been started and runs. Will be doing a service to the oil pump and the carbs. Pics of how boat is looking will hopefully follow soon

quick update.

Time spent on cleaning and trying to sort out tubes, still a few patches needed.

Managed to get the old trailer with the boat so at the moment has something to sit on. Needs new hitch and suspension axle and wheels.

Engine back on transom has good compression, control box wiring replaced, cleaned spark plugs added fresh fuel and started up on 2nd turn over!

Next step to carry out service on the engine.

1st test run of RIB complete. Engine ran ok, seems to be a bit of a flat point as going up the throttle. But once at full throttle, seems to settle out fine. Handled slightly choppy water well even going over swell at full throttle

Some photos of today

As mentioned above flat spot / spluttering about 3/4 throttle but runs fine at full throttle. Will have a bit of a play about with settings and run a cleaner through the engine. Currently running 50:1 in the fuel tank alongside the oil injection system untill satisfied that it is working correctly. Prop is pretty well banged up so hoping to have that replaced at somepoint.

Still for a 20 year old engine ran pretty well!

During the test drive a small section of tube has come away from the hull letting water in underneath the tube; will dry out and reglue.

Including price of buying the boat, which was 250 we've spent roughly about 600 to get it running, thats including getting axle and wheels for trailer
