Valiant 3m tube separated

I have an elderly valiant 3m RIB used as a tender with a 10hp tiller control outboard. It is generally in good nick, tubes hold air and hull is good. Unfortunately the port side tube has separated fron the hull for about 1.5m forward from the transom. There is no damage and the hull / tube moulding appears to be OK. I intend to clean and reglue the joint and then glue a 100mm wide strip of PVC over the joint all the way round for belt and braces. Any one had a similar problem / have any experience of such a repair?

Oh well, there's always a first. I've got the glue and PVC and I'm always up for a challenge, I'll let you know how I get on.

Well it worked! Repaired it as I proposed with some good advice on adhesives from Polyfibre. Just given it a weeks hard work back and forth to the mooring (mile and a half x about 12) in some fairly rough conditions on and off the plane. Checked out the repair when we took her out of the water again yesterday and everything is sound. Only time will tell of course but it certainly seems to be a viable repair. I'll report back at the end of the season.
