valiant 3,4

hello . im new to this forum I have small valiant rib that I have a 9.8 tohatsu to sling on the back , im not a small lad but feel the engine will not be man enough , I haven't had a test with it yet but did have a go on a mates set with only a 8 hp , help reqd,

I have the same Rib with a centre console and a 15 hp 4 stroke Mariner. I also am not a small chap. The 15 hp gets the boat on the plane with ease I am sure the 9.8 will be ok as well

Depending on what you want out of the outfit it might just be OK. Do you have a console and remotes or use tiller steer?

Obviously trying it out will be the proof you need either way.

Hi bigverne I had a 9.8 on a 3.2m rib went fine with two in and light fishing tackle, I live in Towyn where are you launching from ?

hello not sure yet ive owned the boat for a while but haven't bothered with it , the outboard was a back up on my warrior I just fancy taking it out to give it a go

ive removed the seat so its just a bare hull , I do need to fit a seat or maybe fit an inflateable one not sure

I would be looking to keep the weight down, I just sit on the tubes then move to the seat when fishing.

yea , I took out the centre console , iwould like to fit a bench seat , but until I know to sit and hopefully get the boat on the plane I don't want to fit one permanently ,

I launch at pensarn from the beach right hand side of the cobble bridge, I push it down on the trailer then recover using a climbing rope, let me know if you want a hand I will pop down, another friend of mine has just brought one for fishing I'm going out next weekend weather permitting.
