usa

has any one bought an outboard from the states and brought it back [second hand ]around the 150hp mark. how much for shiping and any thing else . i might be going there on holls soon and will look at the possabileties ,seem to be cheeper there, seen a few around the £3000 mark any help welcome

You can fly one in for around£350.00, depending on which part of the States you buy it in. Additional costs are insurance at a few pounds, 2.7% duty and vat on the total. Don't forget that the motor needs to be drained of fluids, and put into a suitable shipping crate!

I have spoken to these guys and they gave me some names of people they had shipped to in the UK .I did not pursue it as another boat and engine came along .

food for thought

In case this is any news to anyone.... I found that buying a Honda in Canada and bringing it to the States was a horrible idea. Honda Canada and Honda USA do not talk to each other; parts have different numbers, slightly different engines, and the warranty would be voided instantly. No idea how this applies to other makes/countries. j

Well that's the amount I've paid for the last couple of OPTI's I've brought in from Florida, on a 4 day service!
