glad I went on here - got 2 of these - will be sending them back tomorrow!!

looking at the picture of the current model on the website the fastening buckle at the front is different to mine - looks more like the older ones - mine is a plastic buckle with a red button release

actually - some of the lifejacket pictures on the site still seem to use the plastic buckle...

I have three 175 newton automatic life-jackets I/07 and II/06 (which are from batches that have been recalled). Strange - Seago have my product registration cards, including email and postal addresses. Nothing through from them?

Batches from 4th quarter of 2005 to 1st quarter of 2007 are all effected. No indication of why.

Seems a trip to the post office is in order tomorrow - better safe than sorry!

Spoke to Seago today and my understanding now is that certain failures have been found innthese batches that may fail to remain inflated. Well done to Seago for sorting mine so quickly with help from local chandlery Shamrock at Southampton. Thank you

I don't know why people are complaining - unfortunately none of mine are of the right date - I would love 12 new lifejackets!!!

I bet this will cost them a fortune.

They are testing them individually and returning the original ones if they pass. Only those with an actual fault will be replaced.

Don't know but if you want a cheap way of sending a few, look at www.interparcel.com or www.parcel2go.com Both cheaper than first class post if you have more than 1 (although Royal Mail Standard Parcels service may be less for 3-4)

I just used interparcel and they were crap - when the parcel wasn't delivered they just said "it's all DHL's fault" - they didn't want to know.

Cost me £11 to send via Parcelforce 48-hour delivery (£150 insurance) for 3 lifejackets. I'm assuming Seago will reimburse me. Letter came through the post yesterday.

Just called Seago, they asked me for a letter to be enclosed with the parcel detailing postal charges and they will refund.

Excelent Service from Seago

Called Seago regarding Lifejacket recall yesterday and just had 16 replacement lifejackets delivered and the old ones taken away tonight.
Now that is service .
We fired one off to see if it delaminated and guess what it was fine .
Still a excellent response will be sticking with them .
Tim

I have to agree with praise for the service response from Seago, they are replacing my 8 lifejackets with brand new ones by return of post.

Luckily all the others are newish Crewsavers, so no new purchasing required for a while!

Test It Yourself

Hi Guys, I visted Seago`s factory today in Hailsham for them to test my 3 lifejackets.
They are testing them by inflating the jacket manually through the top up tube and leaving them for 24hrs, if they remain inflated with no loss of pressure, they are then returned to you. So therefore to save on grief /reclaiming postal costs. do it yourself as advised by seago today.
Hope this helps you all.
Cheers
Pete

Well,

I tested mine last week, as advised originally be Seago. 3 went down out of 8, and were losing air noticeably after a couple of hours.

When I called the hotline today to discuss sending back 3, I just got a message telling be to send jackets back, they would be tested, then returned or replaced.

So, I called the office number, and spoke to a gentleman who claimed to be the MD, and told me to send back all 8 for checking by them, so they are going in the post now, better safe than sorry.

I also sugggested in the letter, that if returning to them is really necessary, and given they have been giving out the test yourselves advice, they might like to comment on here. The Recall notice mentions "Lifejackets may have a defect which could result in serious injury". Maybe this is just lawyer language, or maybe it's best to send the jackets back for "proper" testing.
