Under seat storage, best way to seal it?

As per above. I've sorted out the storage for the head of the console but am struggling to come up with a solution for the rear.

I have roughly 45cmx35cm to play with for a hatch on the side. I would fit a hatch but am struggling to find a black one.
The other solution is to cut a hole actually under the seat but then I'm stuck with the problem of sealing it properly?

Any ideas?

Easy one this…. Give up, water will get in so just put a drain hole in the base so the pesky water can get out.

So you reckon just cut a big hole under the seat?
Whats the best way then of fixing the seat back down, hinge it? I vaguely remember Humber having under seat storage, doesn't they seat just wedge back in?

Make a lip higher the the edge of the top. And then make the seat to fit over the lip. Will stop rain water getting in (that's how mines made and it's done a perfect job up till now). Only thing it wont stop is if you get the boat flooded so fit a drain.
You could also make a rubber casket that will compress with the weight of the seat to form a seal.
