Its 10mph on Ullswater, which was applied at the same time the 10mph and 6mph limits were introduced on Windermere in the 80's

The confusion with KTS and MPH was caused when the blanket speed limit on Windermere was introduced in 2005, due to a mistake the new speed limit areas of North and South basins were restricted to 10KTS (approx 11.3mph). This resulted in a very confusing situation with different speed limits on the lake of 6mph ( Lakeside and Ambleside), 10 mph (Bowness and Belle Isle) and 10kts for the rest of it.

This was clarified by the LDNPA in 2012 with the majority of the lake being confirmed at 10kts. Ullswater, Derwentwater and Coniston were unaffected by this decision and remained 10mph.

Phew, panic over......
The current frau Wright and I oft go from Pooley Bridge to Howtown when seas are up for a spot of tiffin before a steady motor back.
I tend to be really anal about setting the old lady (boat not wife) up at a steady 10mph but can drift up to a heady 11mph some-times!
Strangely I get passed by the steamers who seem to be going significantly faster than me............
