Two more Redbay 1650s on the way

As willk is obviously having a snooze I thought I'd beat him to it to mention the two new 1650s that Redbay are building.

One is for a trip operator running out to St Kilda, the other will be the new Belfast Harbour pilot boat.

Maritime Journal - Red Bay up and away

Looks like they're becoming a regular shipyard these days!

I was at sea, Boss - demonstrating a Redbay to some well heeled looking blokes. Thanks for holding the fort

IIRC, Belfast have two on the books...

And leaving the Safehaven boats in her wake!
This boat replaced an Interceptor 42 (an over-rated fuel guzzler), ride, comfort and fuel consumption is far superior to what that was, and what the Safehaven boats running alongside me are. (an Interceptor 55 & Wildcat 53)

Hi Seumas

A very big welcome to RIBnet - it is a pleasure to have you on board

As the saying goes - "the proof is in the pudding" so as a commercial operator at the extreme edge your feedback is very welcome news to all us Redbay diehards.

Keep posting as the "Enchanted Isle" is very close to a lot of RIBnetter hearts.

Yep, time will tell, Enchanted Isle did not arrive till towards the end of my season so we did not get a good run at it, but from what we did do, I am very happy with its performance and importantly, it's fuel efficiency - on a round trip of around 110NM I am not using much more than what my Interceptor 42 used to do and we sit at 21 -22kts very comfortably, we sat at 18kts with the Interceptor 42, going any faster would have meant running out of fuel and slamming all the way to St.Kilda, if the boat did not break, the passengers would!

Too early yet for a 'glowing' report, but so far so good and I am a happy 'Rib' owner!

C'mere - hold onto the profile and remember there's always a (unmitigated) seat on the willkcraft for you on Company Cruises.
