Tube repair

A friend of mine took their rib out yesterday and put a gash in the tube! The rib is currently in Cowes Yacht Haven but will back in the Hamble later today. Anybody know of a good, RELIABLE person who could repair the tube ASAP?

Many thanks

You could speak to the re-tube people who post here but most are not that close to you or search on tube repair as someone in your area was looking for the same service about 6 weeks ago an couple of names came up.
Good luck

Nick Gilbertson of sealion inflatables used to post on here and he is based in Southampton. I think he used to work on the scorpion tubes.
His email used to be nick@sealionboat.com otherwise have a search on here or the members list.

Tube repair

If you give Scott Braye at Rib Repair in Lymington a call, he can normally react quite quickly. His number is 0705 006 4071

However if he is unable to do the repair in time, give me a call.

Hi David - please give Gary Brackall of Spartun Marine a call on his mobile. He has a great reputation for quality tube repairs and gel-coat repoairs, but he also does call-outs from his base in Fareham. mob = 07803 388270.
He is now recognised for many types of insurance repair work!

You know Gary and his RIB - Wonabe, he is nearing completion on his first own mould and will be around 8-metres with a 200 on the back this time.

Hope this helps

all the best, John.

Contacted him via web site search - waste of space! Typical marine trade reaction. People need to learn some basic business communication skills. The "oh I'm so busy and it will cost you this and it will cost you that and I can't do it for at least 3 weeks, but if you bring it down here I might be able to fit it in between other jobs" Fine, it may well be the case, but there are ways of dealing with potential customers.

Not the sort of answer I was looking for I was looking for a solution to a problem, not be given a lecture on his! - I've now found a guy in Emsworth who has been far more accomodating.

Thanks for your offer though.

I am surpised to hear your comments. I know a number of people who have been more than impressed with the service that Scott offers and has gone to enormous trouble to assist, often at very unsociable hours.

I think you were unfortunate in the reaction you got. Anyway, glad you got the job done

I contacted Scott a short while ago, and received a similar response... I was pleased that he had the honesty to give me a genuine estimate of the times and costs involved rather than give me false promises and let me down later.

Who was the guy from Emsworth who you got to do the work, and would you recommend him to others?

David

Funnily enough it was Scott that Viv rang, who came out and did the job on the Scorpion the next day after it ended up getting poorly a while ago!

He did an outstanding job at the drop of a hat. Give Viv a buzz as perhaps your undoubted charm has deserted you down in the Solent

Paul

PS: Only joking David!
