Removed gel coat etc before glue parted fare play to Humber this time round

What do you do with the flanges before you re stick the tubes do you just sand the bad bits out where the glue as lifted the laminations and re glue the tubes or do you flow coat the flanges before you glue the tubes on?

I am going to re glass the whole deck 450 GSM including flanges and flo coat ,non slip all ,
Who ever gets the tube job will prep the flo coat in areas as required

The reason i ask ive just taken the tubes off a 4.5m Tornado to replace them and the flanges are like yours with areas of torn laminates. The last boat I had tubed was a 6.5m which was tubed at henshaws the deal was I was to prep the flanges so they were ready for the tubes to go straight on. I asked Chris if i should flowcoat the flanges while i did the deck and he said to sand the bad areas of laminate and mask up the flange to leave it bare fibreglass
My thought was that nice new keyed flowcoat would be a better surface to work onto
Im undecided what to do with this Tornado before i refit the tubes

Done a few over the years and henshaaws have always tubed mine
All been flo coated and prepped afterwards
This ensures an class exposed areas are not going to be coming sponge areas sucking up any exposed water

That was my thoughts to be honest and i had it in mind to grind and flowcoat this tornado.

I thought it was a little strange when chris said leave the flanges raw but I took his advice anyway,
this tornado has been flowcoated up to the flange but not over it too
I wonder if its to do with drying time for the flowcoat?
I assume the complete cure time is significantly longer than the hardening time?

Maybe for a new moulding its better or quicker for the builder? but i think like you say sealing the fibres in has to be a good thing
