Just an update on this , I mailed the manufacturer last night with pictures and got this email reply this afternoon :-

"This is not really repairable, it can be patched up but it will not last.

This craft is 7 years old and we have made 100's of craft before this and after it. Whilst we do see the odd bit come unstuck on older craft we do not see this level of issue.

We have in the past seen people use all sorts of cleaning agents and magic potions that can cause glue bond issues and over 7 years it would be difficult to track all that has happened to the craft.

The Best solution would be a retube

As you can see this is shown at a cost of £3,595 Inc Vat on our web site.

As a good will gesture we would do this at half price = £1,800 Inc Vat, based on the craft being brought to us and collected "

That's prety much the entire mail apart from I've removed the name of the company however I'm aware several people did identify the maker.
I think given the circumstances that is a very fair offer and probably a good result for the club
Obviously a maker who is prepared to stand behind their product and help out when things go wrong.
I'd add I wasn't pushy in my original email and didn't feel the need to ask for more I think it's a very fair offer

I agree very fair and a good price plus you can spec the protection required for the mooring problem. Well worth giving it a try

Tube deterioration opinions?

That's a good outcome in my opinion. Club boat with hard life and little tlc so a 50/50 split for a full re-tube seems a good deal. Well done to both yourself and the manufacturer. No harm in naming now.
Out of interest will you be going for their welded pu tubes or glued hypalon?

Yeh I think it's a great result it's 1800 quid including vat but the club gets the vat back so it's £1500 in reality
You could have knocked me over with a feather when I read the mail I was half expecting a tin of glue & some thinners!

I'm not sure about naming the company involved as I'm not sure if there will be people who would still think it's terrible

Thanks to everyone who commented as I wasn't even sure it was worth a try

The company were definitely off the list for buying the next rib but I'd imagine now they will get a chance to at least qoute for the next new boat

That's an excellent offer. Demonstrates the level of integrity behind their business and that they're prepared to put in the work considering they have no idea as to the previous life of the boat. Bite their hand off would be my advice!

I would say name them, they done a decent thing here.

Yes it shouldn't have happened in first place but I say give them credit, they didn't make the glue.

I think most of us have figured it out if you decide not to though.

I here what your saying, the manufacturer has come up trumps but I'm not convinced that naming them is the right thing to do.
It seems several people have identified the boat and they know the company has done the right thing.
If I was a boat builder would I want my name associated with a thread which starts tube deterioration? My thoughts are probably not

That could be a long process as it may be the committee decide they can't do without the boat untill autumn ( the manufacturer is quite happy to do the job then)
I think a thread along the lines of "great backup from company XYZ" would be more appropriate with pictures of nice shiny new tubes

does the manufacturer have a presence here? Perhaps they could post something if they wanted. Something like, "Glad we could be of service and thanks for all the nice words. Yes, we are that awesome "

Tube deterioration opinions?

I don't think they do. I'm closing the thread as I think it has run its course for now. With a bit of luck we'll see the outcome in due course with the manufacturer getting due credit.
