It's only the gearbox that runs in reverse. If the engine is cheap enough you could change it. Major hassle though. My concern would be that the hull is rated at 200hp for a reason. I suppose that it's how it's used that would have as much bearing on transom stress as HP. It's not as if you can go back to Boats and Jetski to complain about transom cracks.

That 225 is an XL. My Osprey has an L, so i guess you will too. £6200 is not that good when you consider this engine does not have controls or a prop. Smartcraft are mega £'s to buy seperate to a new engine (like £1k +)

As an aside, don't ever be tempted to run a left-handed prop on a right-handed gearbox or vice versa even briefly. I tried this when experimenting with diferent pitched props, It cost me £1100 for a box rebuild! The bearing carrier on a Merc/Mariner box will only run one way. Run it the other way more than for just reversing and it eats itself.

thanks guys great response . i do feel loved.
just rreturned from darkest wales 4x4 ing. bloody dun in,


Daniel spoke to ep barrus no 175 opti in country as you say, nor is there likely to be in near future not popular choice by all accounts,,,


recieved many e-mails pm's etc, i am going to sit down this week look at all options and cost. then go for it,,

so requirments at t6ime of typing. cash awaits..

150hp opti... new or demo as previously said,
i beleive the opti comes with control box of choice, all guages etc just add batt cables and gear cables to suit length. am done,,, is that right?

roller trailer,,,,,,,,,had some good prices pm'd still chance before i commit though guys if you know of any thing, again new or as near as dam it.
