Graeme,

Don't worry too much about tide at Penzance. When I used that slipway some years ago it was pretty much available at all states, despite what the book says. Good slip too! It's a bit shallow at low water but I had no problem an hour after low with Prime Rib. It may be different on a Spring of course......... (Haven't looked at the moon lately, but that was last week wasn't it?) No boat no interest in Tides! Roll on August!

Graeme, you just missed Brian. He called in here at St Mawes last night (for supper and a few beers) on his way to Scotland. No doubt he will reply when he's back. In a week or so, I guess...

I suggest the following itinery.,
Any comments welcome.
We will use VHF Channel 72 (dual watch with 16)

I will leave Torquay at 06.30 (Andy M.-are you on for this one-meet at Brixham?)
Meet Robert and Vernon off Eddystone at 08.30 (50 10.000N and 004 15.000W)-are you comfortable with that Robert or do you want me to come up to the Breakwater?
St. Mawes Steps at 11.00 to pick up Mike and Di-tides at St. Mawes steps guys? It's only 2m above chart datum at that time-is that enough to get to the steps?
Out to the Helston Bouy (50 05.000N 005 00.800W) to meet Jason at 11.15-OK Jason?
Off to Wolf Rock Approx. 49 57.000N 005 48.000W to meet Graham at 12.00-OK Graham?
Off to south entrance to St. Marys-bouy at 49 53.850N 006 18.700W should be there about 13.00

I would like all those coming to supply me with a mobile phone number.
Current attendees (boatwise) as I understand it are:
Jason, Graham, Robert, Vernon and myself.
Possibles are Aladin, THEWAVEHUMPER, Alan, Andy M. and anybody else is most welcome.
Have you booked your fuel and accomodation??
Any comments please.
Brian

Thanks Brian,

I can confirm Graeme and I have accomodation booked at Garrison Holidays campsite on St Marys.

Helston Buoy at 11:15am is perfect for me to meet you at. I will take longer than 45 mins to reach Wolf rock though, maybe 1hr:45mins.

I have phoned Dave Sibleys place and need to phone him back with a pick up time. If others require fuel maybe we can arrange a common pick up time. Please advise on this.

Finally my mobile number is 0797 0600752.

Just praying for a decent weather window!!!

Quite right, Jason., just testing!
New ETA Wolf Rock 13.00
New ETA St. Marys 14.00

Fuel pickup is best done right away as it is Saturday afternoon and Dave will probably want to get away until Monday morning.
Suggest you arrange between 14.00 and 15.00 but will call Dave as you arrive, to double confirm. ie pump his number into your mobile.

High tide on the 29th will be 0900 BST, Brian. There is always enough water at the St Mawes Harbour steps, anway. The Falmouth ferry can get in there at all states of the tide.

And my mobile is 07977 108660. Di's is the same but ends in 61.

I'll keep an eye on the waether and post an updated forecast on this thread from the 22nd.

Looking forward to a ride in fast RIB. Never done that before!

To say hello ...

Hi,

It looks as if I will definitely be joining you for the Scillies next weekend, so this is just to say "Hello".

I plan to launch from Porthleven or Penzance and meet up with you all at Wolf Rock at 13.00hrs as per Brian & Graeme's arrangement.

My partner Charity will be coming with me. This will be her third time ever on a boat - and first time out of sight of land. So I am hoping the weather will be kind to her.

For VHF purposes my boat name is Sunbird - nothing to do with manufacturer of that name - and in any case it says RIBCRAFT on the sponson. But it is easier to remember and shorter than VictorSierraTangoMikeAit. My mobile number is 07970 532 733.

Look forward to meeting you all.

Robert.

Hi again Robert.
If you wait with Graehm at Wolf Rock, that will be great.
Graehm is on a light blue Avon Adventure 6.2 with a Honda 130hp 4-stroke-called Topaz. He May be with (?) Sian, his wife.
I will be coming from the NE directly from The Lizard.
Looking forward to meeting you at last!
Brian

You lot are not going to believe this but... it looks as if the Azores High will finally have built up such a head of pressure by next Saturday that the Sciilies run looks to be set fair. All sun and no wind.

Amazing.
