Transom strengtheners

Hi, Does any one know where I can get some of those Stainless steel transom strengtheners for my 4 Mt. Searider? The ones I have on now are home made, they were on when I bought it some years ago. One has now broken and I would like to replace them with some professionally made ones.

Hi mate, hope you are keeping ok, did it break while you were in Scotland or has it happened since? You may be better putting some pictures on here so the guys in the know can advise you a little better for what you need.

Ribcraft fit these as standard on most of their boats. Give them a ring; they may use a manufacturer they can put you in touch with. They may even be able to fit them to your rib for you.

Hello Bam Bam.
I noticed when I got home from sunny Scotland that one of the strengtheners was cracked. I suppose I could get it welded but they look bolox anyway, I would rather have some better made ones. I shall have a go at putting some pictures up. I have done it before but I dont know how.

Here are pictures of my transom strengtheners, not a pretty sight. I am sure these are home made, maybe a blind blacksmith knocked them up when he was out on the piss. One is cracked near where it is bolted to the floor. I have seen much better ones on other peoples boats, and was wondering if they are available to buy. Boat is a 4 Mtr Searider btw.

I'd replace both of them as they look to be bits of pipe beaten into shape.
Best bet would be get Dan's and get an identical one made locally.

Avon dealer

Hi Mercury,

I guess you'll be sorted now.

But, for anyone else in the same situation these should be available from an Avon dealer.

I bought a pair for my 5.4m about 5 or 6 years ago. About £40 each iirc.

Duncan

I am hoping Dan comes through with one, if he does I will see if I can get another one made...
