BUT...a dealer gets minimal payment from BRP for carrying out warranty repairs, where you on the other hand are about to be stung for £2.5k for a full retail price repair. So you can see why a dealer might not be too keen to press your case. I would certainly be contacting BRP direct & kicking up a stink & also getting a second opinion from another dealer.
Just IMO
Good point Dave...
It is why I suggested he contacted a Main dealer I know personally and I know fromexperience can be trusted in my first post

You might also have a look at their Facebook page, that is a mighty fine weapon these days

I think that it might be worth getting a solicitor to send Evinrude a letter threatening legal action (might cost 50 quid) but worth a go imo.

"something like this can create a positive response "

You also have the evidence that you are not the only one this has happened to " mention us on Rib.net " and also maybe do a little more research on the Etec owners forum to see if someone else has been experiencing similar treatment from Evinrude.

I'm sure that Evinrude would not like any bad publicity "especially on boat forum's" leading people to believe that their outboard engines are not fit for rough water use such as for Ribs. Bad for business.

I am sure you will find an Internet cafe in Arran, or do it today...

The longer you wait, I'd say the less chance anyone at BRP or the Insurer is likely to be proactive to sort it.

Good advice!...Time is always of the essence!..at the very least to register your complaint.

There's been plenty of good sound advice given on this thread, it's now down to the OP to act on it, IMO our work here is done.
As someone once said "you get what you settle for"

final word on transom bracket . evinrude have refused to pay saying it cannot be a manufacturing fault and it was how i have used engine . lucky i have insurance and they have agreed to pay ,general and navigation brilliant response and i recommend them . 2500 pound altogether so not cheap . i have learnt a lesson and will choose my next engine carefully . thanks for all the advice and i did contact evinrude press officer who replied in two hours said he would forward it onto warranties which was very good service . unfortunatley warranties were not so good never bothered contacting me but did contact powerhouse marine by email which he sent on to me . email said you can find other cases of any problem on forums and it doesnt mean theres a fault with a product

At least you get back on the water without paying for all of it yourself. I suspect had you not been covered by insurance and had pursued evinrude via a court claim that a judge would have been more convinced by your argument and evidence and probably found in your favour. Possibly if it proceeded towards court evinrude would settle out of court beforehand to avoid the bad press. Obviously it would take time and perseverance and as your not majorly out of pocket probably not worth the effort
Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get the thing back together
