Training on the Menai with Seawake and Macmillan

Thanks to Whisper for persuading Kawasaki to run a intermediate Powerboat course with the proceeds going to Macmillan. Derek and I had a great time with the proceeds going to a great cause. A part from being cold and some rain on Sunday, we could not complain about the weather considering it was November.

Good breakfasts and accommodation at the Victoria in Menai Bridge and evening meal at Dylan's.

The experience has certainly set me up for next season. Can't wait to get back on the Menai. Some photos to follow.

Anyone fancy a run around Angelsey and the Menai for Macmillan weekend of 14/15 May 2016? Should be a good weekend for a group launching at Chris's I think. If there is some interest I will start a new thread.

Thanks again W & K.

Nick

Hi, i might be interested in a run round anglesey in May. I did my intermediate with Rich at Seawake a few weeks ago, and have just bought a RIB that I'm itching to get using. I think I'll be visiting Menai Bridge quite a bit to launch there.

You Knobber!
Hey Chris.
Fair play to Nick and Derek, the conditions were not all that bright (neither are they really, not donning their Geckos, when the rain pelted down on Sunday morning!) but fair play to them on Saturday night
I thought a bit of nightime stuff might be a good idea, whilst they were here an it goes dark early now
Not Part of the Intermediate Course but just an opportunity to sample stuff at night. A kinda 'Prep' if they wanted to do the Advanced RYA Course in the future
All went well until the last Lit Lateral mark was not!!
That was the focal point to find the 'Diffuser' off Friars Bay Tee Hee
'The Boys Done Well'
That is all!

Chris I need to do a bit more practicing my throttle skills before doing an advanced never mind running through the Straits at night! We had a great weekend though. Just need to wait till spring to get back on the water in warmer weather. 😀

People of this Forum
I have to point out
Not only did pow2gran 'buy' the Course in aid of the Cause he added to it with another donation, hence this Picture on the steps of the Victoria Hotel in Menai Bridge
Plus the Hotel did us proud and gave us a Free Room for the theory stuff etc
Our Classroom not being ready for that weekend
Plus I have to admit, I didn't recognise Derek initially, untill He said He did His PB2 with us in Feb 2014!
Double whammy there, the soft knobber came back for more!!
Some People!
On a more seriarse note peeps
It was so much pleasure to go out on the water in not the best conditions with 2 really proper knobbers and to try and estole some knowledge into 2 landlubbers from England. Why do you people live so far from the water??
To have so much fun with them and still chuck a few bob into the Kitty
Made My Year it did
Thanks Guys

Thank you so much for donating this course kawasaki and for buying and donating the money to Macmillan Cancer Support Pow2gran, your additional donation has arrived with me safe and well and will be given to our Macmillan fundraising manager tomorrow.

I love the menai and would love to come back again especially if it's for macmillan.

Thank you all so much including Bingosucks who got many of these auction items donated.

Looking forward to seeing you all. Alex
