I only use this stuff. I've tried a few others inc. concentates and have found this the best. Be careful with it though. Only use 50:50 dilute with water. Apply with rubber gloves and a big sponge, rinse straight away. Don't let it dry on the tubes. Do only half of one side at a time. When dry the tubes will need some sort of protectant pretty soon as they'll be stripped bare.

Mollers

What tube protector do you use?

Do you seal the black rubber?

I found the pre mix a bit too dilute - get the concentrate and mix it 50/50 - much easier and cheaper!!!

Use a soft scrubbing brush - Tesco have got some perfect ones - great for alloy wheels as well.....

I was using Polymarine which was good, but tedious to apply. Now been converted to Amoral 303 (spray bottle) which is best sourced from hot-tub suppliers as it's a general UV protectant as used on hot-tub lids.

I found the opposite which was confirmed by the manager of Partco. The 'Powerwash' stuff really is the best.

Tube Cleaner

Our boat was stuck in Guernsey for 7 weeks when the gearbox blew up, the tubes were not covered and were in a real nasty state when i got the boat home..

I used Rib Revive which was fantastic the added a layer of Tube Conditioner by 3M once they had dried. the result was excellent and now they are like new, Tried lots of things over the years but this is the best stuff in my opinion.

go to www.rib-shop.com

I agree, use RIb Revive with a nylon scourer, clean off then use the 3m Tube conditioner.

I question the economics. TFR is an industrial detergent not household or price inflated marine product. At less than a £1 a litre and being powerful stuff it goes a long way. 250ml would clean a rib inside and out, thats 25p. As for Julian splashing on the 3m products? That brings up another well argued point of debate. Non-marine vs marine products.

At the end of the day its an excellent product, which i only use maybe three times a year...so is it really expensive?

I wonder what the difference is , I suspect very little...Most of our toobs are made from Pennel Material anybody know if they do cleaner or conditioner for toobs?.

I'm gonna give the washing powder a go though!

Tubes

I didnt think it was expensive and the result was perfect, only needs to be done maybe 2-3 times a year and the Ribrevive will last a season and the conditioner would too. In total about £25 per year. Thats not much to look after your boat

I agree, I go 'marine' unless convinced otherwise. TFR however, is used in our house on practically a daily basis. It's brilliant if used with care.
