Do not know Southampton at all well these days - so will leave it up to someone else to suggest venue.

Although we are not part of the organisation we are staying at Calshot over the week Monday to Friday
If you are meeting at a local hostelry then we would try and get there.
Just an idea but if there are ribs coming from IOW and Southampton etc then the Spinnaker Bar at Calshot might be an option, not sure about mooring arrangement there, but someone might have a contact?

Alex

I think there is going to be quite a social scene so write down directions back to the boat.

I'm after 2 possibly 3 places on a RIB if anyone would be kind enough to let us tag along? All very willing to help out with marshalling duties if required!

Cheers

Tim

Your request wouldn't be, by any chance, for a photo/press type purpose would it Tim?

If so, you will be wasting your time as the marshalls are tasked to specific areas to patrol and cannot deviate from those areas. They are also limited to 2 peeps per RIB.

I believe a forum member has already been approached by "the press" and offered money for a place on his RIB which he sensibly declined

If it's for pure sightseeing, why not bring your own boat out for the day and join in the fun with everyone else.

Hi Peter,

Well yes and no. I would like to get out to take pics but I wouldn't describe myself as press...more site seeing but taking pics at the same time (I'm never without my camera)! I just want to get out on the water, as I think this is something not to be missed. My other friend is a student in the navy but has been stitched up by the navy with regards to watching the fleet review, so asked me if he could come out in my boat, but my RIB is tubeless

Cheers

Tim

Bruce - in answer to your question about meeting after Friday's briefing...

I have been directed to "Marshalls" at Ocean Village, where we intend to eat. If it doesn't meet with expectations we have the option of adjourning to either Perfect Pizza a couple of hundred paces away, or Shamrock Quay which has become our regular watering hole.

Dunno whether Alex made it from Falmouth but I've just seen Kermit on the BBC live feed via the interweb!
