I use the TK103 hook up to the optional shock sensor (£4 extra).
The TK103 has a power saving sleep feature which shuts down the GPS and runs the GSM on low power until the shock sensor is triggered or the unit called.
My boat has not been used for 3 months with no trickle charger connected and it still had plenty of juice to start the engine last weekend.
I have bought 12 more TK103 units and run them in our fleet of vehicles at work.
They have all been running since July with no issues so far.
I use the very excellent and free GPS-Trace ( GPS-Trace Orange 2.0
) to track them in real time on a map.
I use GiffGaff SIM cards which auto tops up credit when low. All the trackers run in GPRS mode and transmit data every 30 seconds. they use 5p or less credit per 24hrs.
There is also a free unofficial android app to track on your phone.
GiffGaff data also works in most European countries which we need. Infact i am just looking at one of our vehicles in Holland! See pic.
