Torquay

All looking good for racing at Torquay.

We will have OCR and Thundercat racing on the Saturday, 28th.
On the Sunday there will be OCR, Thundercat, V24 and the race for Formula 200 which includes the offshore 2 litre class and what is also now called F1 RIBs.

There is also the production class within Formula 2oo where boats upto 200 hp can be raced on day licences etc.

Where will you put all the boats ?
The usual carpark now has a 3hr max stay time

I believe there is also a boat jumble that Saturday at the race course

We have the top car park level for the weekend so F200 and V24 boats will be there. This will be for raceboats only with tow vehicles going onto the bottom level.

OCR and Thundercats will be going onto the breakwater.

All going to be a bit tight - depending on how many entries we get.

Does this mean the breakwater will then be closed to the general public ?

Looking forward to it hope the weather clears up by then

I have been helping with safety for the last 5 years for this and Ian Austin has last year.
He called in yesterday and said he had heard nothing this year and neither have I from the organisers requesting help.
Have the safety or event secretary changed? As I did not hear anything I sent an e mail to the RYA who forwarded it to the organiser who said 3 weeks ago they would put the info in the post.
3 days to go and still nothing. I have taken a booking now for training on Sunday.
The last 5 years the paper work, requests for help has been excellent.

Has anything changed Cookee?

I suggest you call Shirley Simkins 02392 377570 - her number is on race instructions so it's already public! Safety officer is James Cox (Shirley and Jim Cox's son).

Up untill 10 minutes ago they hadn't got space to park my lorry there at all, so I hope it all works out for you! You can be assured that no matter how you get treated by the officials, the competitors really appreciate you being there!

Hope you can make it,

Thanks Ian

Got your number, I'll give you a ring when I get to the harbour. I'm going to have a wander round the carpark area first

Ian, you didn't mean that did you? No time out on the water is boring!

We'll have a boring time driving down the M5!
