My top five...

1/ Razor sharp knife with gut-hook s/s blade (invaluable for fouled prop)
2/ Garmin Etrex GPS (entry-level, no nonsense piece of kit)
3/ Draper 12-piece socket set with spark plug tool (should be compulsory for all 2-strokes)
4/ Cheap sunglasses (salt spray would kill my Oakleys)
5/ Suncream (even on an overcast day you can get burnt)

RIBase
Flare pack
Multi-tool + basic toolkit + spare fuses
Drybags for spare clothing, etc
Blankets (I have two young boys and carry these even on the warmest days as they can keep the sun off as well as the warmth in)
Handheld VHF (assuming this isn't part of what you class as boat kit?)
