That lande will p-SS that slipway no problem but you can't beat precaution so long as you've got low stretch rope, makes a mess of the rear window when it breaks.

If you watch the rear vehicle (Micks&#128540 you can see it sliding down the slip, no traction whatsoever, it was as snotty as hell.

Can I have "newbie" question please (do not laugh)

1. How did you maneuver trailer when wheels had not any traction at all
2. Was it possible to use one car and long rope ? I have not idea how to steering trailer in such case also but I saw thread that some people use such method here (on RIB.net)

Long trip (for me I have never did daily longer trip than 160km)

You are experience and brave people to use such slip !!!

Its much easier recovering than launching with a rope and keeping control. With small boats you can do it though (I've used a munter hitch on a big caribener attached to the car as an anchor - as then you can see what is happening etc). You can't steer it though so everything needs to be in a straight line.

There were my thoughts (that launching is not easy).
Generally (for me) it was challenge not the trip.

It have to be really good rope. Not idea how much weight Land but it can be even 2500 kg + boat (lets say 1500 kg).

I can imagine that until end of the slip the first one car could managed to launch.
But on the end of the slip Land over the hill keeps everything on the rope.

Finally everything have finish with success so can I ask for AIS/GPS trace where have you been ?

not tried it and not sure you can get enough rope on the winch [dimema]but would that work lowering down the slip on the electric winch keeping the truck on good ground when launching at low water. suppose you could do it on a two rope method whilst you wind the winch in and get another hold.

The thing is...Mick and Pikey were up against time and tide in a particular situation..after travelling Many hours and having to make the most of a weather window from an unknown slipway to a "Bucket list destination"....and as a consequence had to "adapt and overcome"...IMO they did an excellent job.Fair play to em!

In the overwhelmingly majority of launch scenarios planning is the key..for launching and recovery.
And for me its preferable to wait for better conditions/states of tide... or even change locations to facilitate a launch without having to deal with such dubious and fraught conditions as they faced...something I'd always TRY to do.
BUT... when you gotta go..you gotta GO!

absolutely i would have done the same if needed, personally i avoid low water launches but knowing Dave has an electric winch i just threw the idea in as alternative if the scenario arose again

Nope, just narrow & slippy, I considered lowering the trailers down on ropes, but launching & especially recovery become a pita with the trailer nose in the air.

This distance mentioned in first post it was only by boat ?
Or total of the trip (towing and boating)
You mentioned before that boat was heavy loaded - did you have a lot of spare fuel ? More pictures please ...
