Time to sell up.... I think

Hi Guys,

It looks like I am going to moving to the Isle of Man in the very near future.

In order to make the move, I need raise some money, so I think I am going to sell the boat, and get something smaller with a single engine...

I guess what I am asking, is what do you think my boat is worth? - I want to make a relatively quick sell, as time is running out before I make the move

Its a 2003 Tornado, with Twin 150hp HPDI, bought in 2006 (but the 2007 model)... twin 90l petrol tanks in the console, twin batteries, All cabling is above deck, runs through trunking from the engines down the center of the boat.

The engines are just out of warranty, but run as sweet as a nut, start easily, and give perfect perfomance...

The boat handles the rough stuff really well...

The boat comes with Standard Horizon Fixed DSC radio, Garmin GPS.

Has 5 pod seats, and a bench seat in the bow.

Thanks in advance

Ben

I've always thought what a 'proper' boat this one is.

The boat does 54.1 knots at full chat, burning 120/l, at about 40 knots, boat burns 60/l an hour, as for the range.... obviously it depends greatly on the speed you're dong... I've not really used the boat all that much since I fitted the new engines

As for weight - im again, not sure... as I've never weighed it.. it should be going in the water tomorrow, so ill get them to let me know what it weighs on the crane.

If anyone is around the solent on sunday, and wants a blast let me know, I think we're heading to play off weston shore, getting the ringo out, and bbq on the beach, hopefully.

No suggestions then?

I'm going to aim to come up with a price this week to get it listed. Needs to go as soon as possible

I've had some good times in the boat, and its sad that these times have to and end... but onwards and upwards .... will be getting a smaller rib for the time being - can't stand the thought of being without a boat!

Times have changed,

it seems to me. Maybe the credit problem, but I think people are a bit more discerning about how they spend. That's why I have been looking for a boat for so long - many good used boats I have considered are very close to the price of a new one, but without the warranties. Some time back, you coudn't get a Botnia Targa for love nor money, yesterday I found a dozen for sale, albeit some of them very expensive. However, five or six (including 31's) were price at around £60k.

I know people think their boats are worth more than they are, I did (perhaps because they are kept very well). The truth is, age has its toll, and unless you have a boat that everyone wants, you probably have to take it into account.
Take off the VAT (which is only on a new boat), and a % for each year. It might give you a figure you don't like, but....
There is (was) very good condition (it seems to me) Cougar R8 Sport for sale here, 2003 at £35950. A 2008 model is being sold by Cougar (NZ) for 40k euros (£34,188). You figure it out.

We put our boat up for sale here on rib net a few months ago
looks of looker NO BIDDER
I agree with rupert its easy to think your boat is worth a certain amount
Truth is any iteam beit boat car or what ever is only worth what you can get for it
The true value of your assett is what some one will pay for it. that counts for me as well.
i would say that if the economy carries on being flat then second hand values should hardern a bit as if there are very few new boats being built and few people trading up then it will become a surply and demand situation
i hope.
another thing is fuel, for us a quick return trip to Alderney costs about £300 to £400

And you

have got a Scorpion, a great boat which should be more in demand than others. But, you are right, if fewer new boats are made, then the second-hand market might pick up.
However, £300 - £400 for a day out (is it a day, or a weekend?) is a fair whack. Perhaps I should follow Codprawn's dream and get a motorsailer!
