I was more interested if anyone knew more about it..

We all know the kill cord wasn't used, and at the moment these incidents will be getting loads of press.

As Anglesey is my normal cruising area was just interested in knowing more....

Possibly being a tad unfair, if you read the press release it says KC was being used and was disconnected whilst investigating a problem with the tube (puncture?) - and presumably gear/throttle accidentally engaged. Whilst that sounds like it wasn't best practice, I am sure you will find a good few people here who disconnect the KC to pick up mooring buoys, to tie up at the pontoon, or when investigating an engine problem etc...

I'll admit to disconnecting my killcord to tie up.

I think that it is the binnacle type which you have to be careful with, with a side control once in neutral you have to squeeze the button to engage in gear.

Is there a reason why binnacle controls don't have a lock as it would be interesting to know why they don't....
