throttle control cable Mercury.

Hi,,need some help,I am trying to rig up a 1980 Mercury 40hp 2cylinder using quicksilver remotes, gear cable fits great and selects gears fine. However throttle cable appears to be about 25-30mm too short,if I connect it as best I can it gives me wot at neutral,no throttle at wot and no throttle in reverse. I've checked inside control box all ok in there,do they do cables with a longer throw.?

It may be a silly question - have you got the two cables mixed up ? ,,, and are they in the lower of the two holes?

No,cables in bottom holes and not reversed,it looks like the throttle cable at the engine end needs to be about an inch longer to bring it back into sync.

The remote box was push to throttle and I needed pull to throttle, found post on web for Yamaha 703 which has the same internals as the Quicksilver apart from fast idle lever which the 703 doesn't have
See web site Kaplan1.com for full details. Quite a simple process.Handy now Yamaha have went back to push to throttle on the 4 stroke.
