The reason for posting this is that I hope it inspires others to ‘Have a go’ at making something themselves. And to show off of course
The Nashers Revenge has an enclosed Transom behind a Bench seat, and large drains down either side of the bench seat to allow any water on deck to drain back into the central well or through the trunks.
On the Starboard side the 3 inch conduit for all the cables from the console emerges, and protrudes 2 inches above the deck. The large ‘Witches Hat’ I put on can be held down with a Jubilee clip which stops any water washing around from filling up the conduit.
In the Port Jockey the fuel pipe exits the top of the tank, then goes through a gland under the deck, and emerges through another gland just in front of the transom. Between the two is a void under the deck that is only accessible via the holes the glands are screwed down over. Running alongside the fuel pipe is the fuel tank level sender wire.
The trouble is water leaks past the useless gland fitted at the factory, and the under deck void fills up with water. Getting it out again is a right pain.
My solution was to fabricate a top hat section in Fibreglass that could be sealed and screwed down to the deck above the hole with a rubber gaiter on top. This means that the water has to be 2 inches deep before the gaiter even needs to do its job.
In the images below please ignore the state of the Fuel Filter housing, as cleaning it up and spraying it is next weekends job.
