Agreed. But that is what they are asking for isn't it? This looks like a consultation exercise looking at all of the main interests, boating, fishing, recreation etc

I'd imagine the RYA and other groups will be consulted and normally there is a process for individuals to raise their concerns. Often nobody does.

Personally, I think that Marine Protected areas are a good idea. Wildlife and the environment are protected which means that divers, fishermen, leisure users all benefit in the long run. I'd imagine a major reason that most people enjoy boating is the opportunity to access remote beautiful and natural areas, as well as the sheer fun of blasting around and being on the water.

In general the main gain is that by being protected it means that a cracking bit of coastline cannot then be subject to a major port development, dredging, wind farm, inappropriate commerical fishing or exploitation etc. etc... I am talking in general here as I don't know the specific area in question.

Finally, RIBs and small craft will not have much, if any impact on most marine environments so it may not be anything to worry about.

This is my view, I am sure that there are many others...

RIBase
I bet the ferry operators would have an awful lot to say about a 10 knot limit.
