As long as the service improves and they don't take half an hour to bring my dessert.....I might go back.

Reckon I'll stop in Cowes in my week off for lunch....

Yeah sure, Moore up just past the redjet ferry terminal at town quay, walk up the ramp and your in Cowes, the fountain hotel just in front of you has just been refurbished and the food in there was good. Try the burritos

Or, get the timing right, and a highish tide and go right up to Newport. You can moor up right outside of the Bargeman's Rest. A lot quieter than the northern end of the Medina. I had a decent meal there, but it was a couple of years ago.

I had several meals at the Bargemans Rest last week and they were all excellent (spent three days in Newport harbour waiting for the gale force winds to pass). You can get in to Newport harbour safely 1.5hrs before high water and get out up to 2hrs after HW. If you stay across tides you sit in mud for around 6 -7 hours

In my opinion the restaurants, pubs and cafes on the island are far superior in quality to the mainland. But as you are based in Bembridge I guess you want to visit somewhere you cannot normally get to. We have had some good meals at the Master Builder Pub in Bucklers Hard, nice trip up the Beaulieu river getting there too. However, I did heard from a friend that they had bad service there recently, no idea if that was a one off.
