I don't want to start a war,

so I won't mentioned names, but many (although not all) of the manufacturers I have written to were very slow in coming back to me with answers to my questions. Some never replied at all.

Cat B is structured for waves up to and including 4 metres and is classed as an offshore Rib

Cat C is for waves up to 2 metres and is classed as a costal Rib

Im glad that some of you guys out there found Dave at Ribquest helpful.

This

is the theory, but the practice is a different ball-game. Depends on the boat, your experience, luck, etc.

Take a Bat, for instance, which is a 6 mt rib with 24 or 26 inch tubes, and is a very heavy boat. Can this be compared to those skinny fledglings which can be blown away at the sight of a big wave? Perhaps, because some might say that a rib is not a displacement vessel, and although bigger and heavier is usually better, these are many variables to take into account. The RCD cats., although offering an indication, cannot be taken as law.

Willk,

Been busy, but now I am back.

I meant "flimsy", liughtweight, like little sparrows. They fly fast, but have no weight. Not like heavy buzzards.

Yes, MarkQ

it's a shame, but suppose I'll just have to keep my money in my pocket, and keep travelling with friends when the Bon Marin isn't available.

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't know these two people (Ian Sharlot or Mike CC). Do they work for rib manufacturers?
Thanks,
rupert.
