The P+O deal runs all year - it is the sailing times that count - having said that they quoted me 420 for landrover with trailer going free - SeaFrance price was half that even though I had to pay for trailer!

That is daylight robbery. Buy a day return pay cash no c/c and when you want to cross back buy yourself a single ticket .

"Anyone got any experience of trailering to the South of France?"

Towed a caravan numerous times to the SOF, no problems, good roads and easy driving. remember the towing speed limit is different in France, also carry all your documents for the boat i.e insurance and of course your ICC. Boating in the south is great, no tide stuff to worry about.

Enjoy.

I tried that a few years ago and P&O told me it was a special for CARAVANS only!!!! They wouldn't do it. Even then, it was only for certain unpopular sailing times.... So double check. Some ferry Some ferry companies have even tried to charge freight rates!!! P&O to Calais usually do a 'pay-in-advance-before-the-end-of-January-for-the-summer' rate which is a good deal cheaper. I think I paid 200 - 300 for my jeep and old 5.8 ribcraft a few years ago!

Don't worry about the drive. You forget the boat is there after the first couple of hundred miles! Seriously its not that bad... all down to mind set... and cruise control! I took mine to Italy twice!

Enjoy,

Mike C

PS

Check the motorway tolls! They charge extra in France if you have a trailer. I reckoned 100 return including the Alp tunnels when I went to Italy. I towed via Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland to Italy. The Swiss do a much cheaper toll system with a sticker on the car..... Probably not much use if you want the South of France though!

Hi there

I paid around 300 for a return ticket with PO, for the ribex, didn't have to pay for the boat trailer.

Towing the boat isn't to bad we did the trip Copenhagen - Calais in about 14 hours and we only stopped to get fill the car and empty the passengers

Go ahead
Rene
