Well I didn't mean to upset any one, I just thought maybe things should be bought into perspective.

It surprises me that there's so much shock horror about a big diesel Rib droning across the Atlantic probably on auto-pilot, hits something or gets trashed by a wave, stops, takes on some water, and then the crew get plucked off by helicopter.

Compared to what has happened to the racing sailing crews in the Southern Ocean, or the Hobart-Sydney this is small fry...why all the excitement?

They're in the pub, they're saying goodbye, they're off, they've sunk, they're in the chopper, they're having some food, they're flying home....surely there are more interesting things to discuss on this forum, which is why I suggested these types of thread should be put in a special section under "stories" or something.

I'm not "trashing" anyone here, and repeat I am delighted no one got hurt in this little incident.

As I seem to have caused some disquiet by airing my views, I shall refrain from posting anything more here which will no doubt please a number of people.

I'd be suprised if Blug wasn't one of Bear's boyos or somebody that Alan P pissed off in Cardiff, but frankly I don't give a flier who he is as he is welcome to express an opinion in my world.

Pete 7 I think all of the 4 people you indicated as possibly being Blug are more than happy to criticise people in their forum names and wouldn't need to create an ID. For the record my views on the subject are this

Anybody that goes to sea in a smallcraft is responsible for their own safety and must measure and accept the risk themselves

It would be a fairly sick person that didn't wish any seafarer safe passage and God's speed ( I am not a believer, but it seems an approriate phrase) So I should hope it goes without saying that everybody is glad that they are alive and safe. Given that they are well then hey...what a mother of an experience gotta be one of the moments of a lifetime! so lets be happy for them being alive

If I had been offered a place (and could have afforded it) in the missus round Ireland trip, rM Priddys last crossing or on the boat that burned at Brighton I would have taking it without a second thought and worried about the Fkk ups later

Blug, i think the point is ... you dont have to read this thread, there are many others. Ignore it and move on.

Alan has many friends and is highly respected, are you trying to insite a riot or just take a cheap potshot.

It addition we are not just talking Alan, the other crew members are being slagged by you also. Kevin for example, this was his first big challange, he deserves so much credit for giving this a go. He does not deserve any negative response from anybody!!

Your point is made however in a offensive and provocative manner, it could have been made without the slagging you have given.

Calm down my friends lets respect each other opinions.
Thank god we have different views to all matters but we are grown up people which we are supposed to have wisdom to think before we write things we regret afterwords.

Hi Peteb,
I do hope that your commets about Alan are tongue in cheek, I did see the smilies there. If not, I suggest you go for a beer with Alan when he is back and if you are lucky he may tell you a bit more of what happens behind the scenes.
Cheers,
Andy.

Some of the team are already home. Welcome home from Fiona and me.

It will be nice to hear your reflections when you are ready to contribute.

Hope you all chill for a bit before going back to the daily routine.

Fi and I (and all those who waved you off in Donaghadee & Deana and the family in Canada) were with you in 'spirit' since you left on Sunday...And yes we did love the boat and thank God she did her best till the end.

Am I allowed to borrow a JK phrase?...onwards and sideways
