Suzuki Df80
Im thinking of changing from my Suzuki Df60 to a Df 80 will this swap be as straight forward as id woukd like . I would like to use the same cables,trofftle box , fuel lines that are in place now and just pop of the 60 and replace it with the 80.

Should be straight swap regards fuel, battery and throttle cables. Throttle remote may be different? You'll need to check with dealer. I see Suzuki launched a new remote that can work on anything from 4hp to 250hp, that's pretty cool. News Detail | Suzuki GB Marine
Have you thought out weight? DF60 is relatively lightweight mid-range outboard at only 104kg. DF80 weighs in at 155kg, so quite a lump. Not sure if this is a new or second hand unit you're opting for?
You might be better with new style Yamaha F70, even although you would have to re-rig. Only 120kg, and purrs like a kitten!

A friend of mine is re powering his boat and he selling his 2012 Df 80 .I have a valiant pt 520 which is rated for 100hp so the Df 80 will sit perfectly on the transom. If there was a cost to change regarding new parts then I would not of bothered as my current Df 60a has only 110 hours on the clock (2013)

DF60 will sell instantly with low hours. Always a demand for these types of outboards.

don't do it it will be tooooo tail heavy and when wave jumping the back end will try and overtake the bow !

X2 Don't do it!...
BIG difference in engines,and weight....Matt h tried the DF 70 and it killed the Handleing..Yam F70 at 119kgs is your best option for more ummph!

Hang on, am I reading this correctly??
The OP has a Valiant 520 which is rated to 100hp. A good deal has offered itself to him on a DF80. Presumably as the hull is rated at 100hp, the DF80 is gonna be well under its max weight rating. Correct??
If so, why are you lot bleating on about weight and telling him to go pay through the nose for a Yam 70???
It sounds like a good plan to me, or am I missing something here?

Good evening lads
The df80 is 30 kgs under the max weight for the Valiant Pt 520 .There is another Pt 520 on the marina here in Cork and he has the Mariner 125 hp and he has no issues with steering .Mollers is correct in what he is saying the deal is to good to pass up especially when I have all the clocks and cables already in situ.Just had a look at the Valiant site and they recommend the 80hp to be the perfect engine for the boat . I have the deal done now so there will be a spotless Df 60 a 2013 coming up for sale soon

I think it'll be a great move and at limited expense one not to be missed. I'm no expert on the suitability of the linkage but in theory it'll straight swop.
