Suveyor required?

Is it "standard" practice you use a surveyor prior to purchasing a second hand RIB?

Does it depend on any factors? Age, condition etc?

When buying previously,(hard boats), I have, and then it is usual to get engine(s) checked by another, and sometimes oil sampled too -twin diesels, admittedly.

Is this the usual deal with RIB's too?

If so, is there a website etc for suitable contacts around the country?

Hope this is not a daft question.................

Cheers

if you're going to spend you're hard earned money on something i would, it does depend a little on what you're buying ie, inboard, outboard, open, cabin, coded, workboat, as to what surveyor or suveryor's you have look at it, to my mind they are to general for my liking and the reports are full of get out clauses so if something does go wrong it's not there fault.
get the engine looked at by an engineer and the boat by a boat builder and forget the bit of paper, that is my opinion
i used to live in old worting road in basingstoke, have they knocked it down yet?

Outboard, leisure, X-Channel capability, open are my pereferences so far.

No, the whole road is still there!

Got banned from a pub along that road in my teens, for bursting open a crisp packet!

The Lamb I think it was called, probably still is!

Small world..........

If you want a surveyor, use a member of the YDSA site - there's a list of dozens of surveyors around the UK with location and contact info

Yes, thanks - I have looked there, but not one specifically, mentions RIBS.

I have used a number of them in the past, but was looking for, what I thought at least, was more a RIB specialist.

It seems there isn't any!

We always reccommend to our customers that they should have a RIB Surveyed before purchase but most do not bother.

No probs with either of those surveyors but I know Duncan so I'd recommend him (searider) , but if I was you I'd be inviting biffer for a beer in the White Lamb and doing a "while your down here number" It's probably gonna devalue the property prices but I used to live in Donought City too!

I got fed up of buying offside front tyres though
